In this Private Members’ Statement, I speak about International Women’s Day by reflecting on how my policing career showed me the harm many women face and why this year’s theme, Balance the Scales, matters. I honour the women who support me: my staff, my mum, my daughter, my granddaughters and especially my wife, Deb. I celebrate inspiring locals like 105‑year‑old Marie Kirby and 98‑year‑old golfer June Blaney, whose lives show strength and community spirit. I finish by urging kindness toward the women who make us better.
