  • Crisafulli Government has delivered a state-of-the-art fire appliance equipped with advanced technology to Forest Hill Fire and Rescue Station.
  • Features include Compressed Air Foam (CAFS) technology and an incline cutter for enhanced rescue capabilities.
  • The truck will be used to respond to a range of incidents including structure fires and road crash rescues.

The Crisafulli Government is strengthening emergency response capabilities in the Lockyer Valley region with the delivery of an $875,000 appliance to Forest Hill Fire and Rescue Station.

Labor’s decade of decline saw Queensland firefighters faced with dangerous safety concerns including an aging fleet and no promise for their cynically expanded Workcover.

The Crisafulli Government is restoring confidence, ensuring firefighters are protected with investment in new appliances and coverage of the funding shortfall for Workcover left by Labor.

The new truck is equipped with advanced technologies including Compressed Air Foam (CAFS) and an incline cutter designed to be used on modern vehicles in road crash rescues.

The Type 2 appliance is capable of responding to a range of emergencies including structure fires, road crash, vertical and swiftwater rescues, as well as hazardous materials incidents.

Minister for Fire, Disaster Recovery and Volunteers Ann Leahy said the delivery of this appliance was a strong demonstration of the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to supporting Queensland’s firefighters.

“Labor’s underinvestment in our emergency services meant the average age of the appliance fleet blew out from 8.4 years to 10.6 years old,” Minister Leahy said.

“The Crisafulli Government is supporting our firefighters as they are an integral part of emergency response and deserve the right equipment to be able to effectively carry out their critical work.”

Member for Lockyer Jim McDonald said this would be a well-valued addition to the Forest Hill Fire and Rescue team.

“The crews from Forest Hill Fire and Rescue Station are known for providing exemplary emergency response to incidents like road crash rescues, bushfires and structure fires,” Mr McDonald said.

“The Crisafulli Government is proud to support regional firefighters with the resources they need to continue to effectively service their communities.”

Queensland Fire and Rescue Southern Region Assistant Commissioner Mark Stuart said the new appliance was a welcome addition and played an important part of future-proofing response capabilities for the region.

“This truck represents a significant boost for the auxiliary crews at this station, and its innovative features will greatly enhance firefighters’ operational capabilities,” he said.

“Crews have completed virtual and practical training and have already been utilising the appliance in their emergency response.

“Our firefighters take great pride in protecting their communities, and this truck ensures they remain well-equipped to respond to the wide range of incidents they face.”

Member for Lockyer Jim McDonald represented Minister for Fire Ann Leahy and at the Appliance Handover Ceremony on Thursday 07 May 2026 at the Forest Hill Fire & Rescue Station.
