LNP Promise Pavement Works for Notorious Somerset Road

Member for Lockyer Jim McDonald has promised a future LNP government will contribute $7 million towards pavement upgrades along Forest Hill-Fernvale Road.

‘As part of the LNP’s $1 billion road infrastructure program, a future LNP government will provide $7 million for pavement upgrades to Forest Hill-Fernvale Road between Lowood and Fernvale if successful at the upcoming election,’ said Mr McDonald.

Mr McDonald said funding would be targeted towards the worst sections of the road between Lowood and Fernvale, with applications for tender set to be released within 100 days of the election of an LNP government.

‘Residents in the Somerset Region, Somerset Regional Council and I have been fighting to secure lasting upgrades to Forest Hill-Fernvale Road for years. Since my election in 2017 I have had numerous constituents approach my office with requests for funding to repair this road. I have advocated on these constituent’s behalf endlessly, yet the Queensland Labor government has refused to fund this priority.’

Mr McDonald said that only an LNP government would provide the funding needed to ensure Somerset residents safety on their roads.

‘Only an LNP government will provide the upgrades we need to see on Somerset roads. Alongside other commitments for safety upgrades on the Brisbane Valley Highway and Warrego Highway. This upgrade demonstrates the LNP’s commitment towards road safety in the region.’

The Queensland state election will be held on the 31st of October.
