Glamorgan Vale State School 150th & Laidley Touch 50th

In this adjournment speech, I want to acknowledge two anniversaries in my electorate this month: Glamorgan Vale State School’s 150th and Laidley Touch’s 50th.

It’s a real privilege to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Glamorgan Vale State School. Education opens doors, and in country towns schools are often the heart of the community—places of learning, connection, and pride. Glamorgan Vale, nestled in the beautiful Somerset hills, is a small school with a big heart, and its motto “Aim High” says it all. I want to acknowledge Principal Aaron McDonnell and P&C president Andrea Walk for their dedication and for organising such a special milestone.

I also want to give a shout-out to Laidley Touch, which is celebrating its 50th birthday. I’ve played there for many years, and it’s incredible to see how the club has grown from a handful of mates in 1975 to 25 teams today, producing players who’ve represented Australia. It’s a great community, and I wish them a very happy birthday.
